3rd - In it together
For some people, the church can be a bit like a Tardis: it’s much bigger on the inside than it appears to be from the outside. We know our particular church building, squeezed between York Road and Mount Hermon Road in Woking, is a bit like that. It’s almost invisible from the road but, for those who step inside, there is a whole community which comes together, worships together, supports each other and serves our wider community.
In this series for Advent we want to open some windows so everyone can see a bit more of who we are and what goes on in a church like ours.
Parenting small children can be a rollercoaster ride! That’s why the Bethany Babes baby and toddler group is such a great place to go. It’s always good to touch base with other mums, dads, grandparents and childminders, to share the highs and lows of life with little people, and to remind yourself you’re not alone!
Tina Thomas, St Mary of Bethany’s Children and Young Families Minister, and her wonderful team of volunteers, host three Bethany Babes sessions a week, giving families within the church and parish a place to relax and have fun together.
The sessions start with some free playtime – there’s a ride-ons area, an under 1s area, wooden train track, play kitchen, and much more. Then is the highlight for many of the children – drink and biscuit time! The grown-ups also get a hot drink and something sweet! There’s then more free play or a chance to make a craft to take home. Everyone helps out with tidy-up time, before joining together for singing to finish.
It really is a lovely thing to be a part of, so come and join us!
