Hope 2016

A very warm thank you for your prayers for HOPE last Saturday.  We had an amazing day of ‘ total gardening’ on Barnsbury  – the jobs were heavy duty and throughout the day cars went back and forth on multiple journeys to the local tips laden with rubble, bricks, household and gardening waste. A HUGE thank you to those who came on the day - both team leaders and group volunteers. Around 14 large jobs were tackled - some of these required 2 teams, and only 2 remain. We hope to undertake these in the next few weeks, putting together a pair of work teams, so watch this space for further updates!

The work started at 10 am after worship and prayer at SMoB , and many teams didn’t down tools until 5 pm !  3 homes were visited by a pastoral team and more home visits were made in the afternoon.

There was also prayer walking and litter -  picking.  The Reflex Centre hosted an all-day drop in café and our home baked cakes were shared on home visits and amongst work teams during the day.

We were delighted to have some 'littlies' with us this year. Our youth team was represented by 4 hardworking volunteers.

At the end of the day, one of our pastorates served a delicious and very welcome fish and chip tea. This was followed by clsoing worship, prayer and fingerprints.

God was so good to us – this was clear in the planning and resourcing beforehand, and logistics on the day, so thank you all so much for your prayerful support. The HOPE 2016 Team.

Scripture Journalling Course

In May St Mary of Bethany welcomed Sophie K from Perish and Fade to teach a Scripture Art Journalling class. Sophie brought lots of fantastic arty products to try and introduced us to exciting new techniques that we used to illustrate chosen Bible verses. Some of us chose verses important to us and others used verses from the Psalm Sophie provided. We all had a great morning and are hoping to repeat this activity in the autumn.
