To oversee and develop the ministry of the church office and its systems as an efficient, welcoming and effective centre of the church’s organisational life for staff, members and visitors, whether in person or digitally, so that the office fulfils its servant purpose without undue stress or fuss.
Hours 35 hours a week over 5 days
Salary £22,659 per annum
Annual Leave 5 weeks plus 8 Bank Holidays

Appointment Subject to satisfactory references, safer recruitment and Right to Work
Act as PA to the Vicar managing their diary, correspondence, planning work, papers and filing, arranging meetings
To manage the office so that the clergy and other staff are protected from as much unnecessary interruption as possible
Line management of Office Administrator and Cleaner
Project management of events such as Parish weekends, School services, Festivals, Polling, Welcome Evenings, Confirmation Services
Oversight of the St Mary of Bethany (SMoB) website content, weekly notices and notice boards
Mobilise volunteers as appropriate to support the work of the Church Office
Safer Recruitment ensure that each person who works with children or vulnerable adults has current authorisation to do so including processing DBS checks
Support the Church Administrator in implementation of an electronic filing system in Office 365.
The successful candidate will:
Join in the spiritual life of the church (though not necessarily as a member) and actively support our ministry and vision
Be able to work on their own initiative
Have team leadership skills
Be able to implement change and make sound decisions
Have good organisational and communication skills
Have excellent IT skills including the ability to work with Microsoft Office 365 and the Church Website
Have a good all-round education
Have a high level of accuracy in spoken and written English
Have empathy and the ability to work within the team and to build good working relationships with staff and those who serve in a voluntary capacity
