Daren's role, under the vicar's leadership, is to help shape our corporate worship and to set and maintain the vision and values for worship in a number of contexts, and to help to organise and resource the church's worship activities.
In practical terms, the role includes:
leading services and resourcing and guiding other service leaders
organising and managing the music repertoire and the music team
leading and shaping sung worship within services and playing and singing as part of the team
regular service review and liaison with the vicar and other team members
Daren is skilled in music arranging and music technology, creating backing tracks and arrangements for music at St Mary's, and he sings, plays guitars, bass and a bit of keys. Music's been a big part of his life, from learning trumpet at school, then being in a number of bands of varying quality over the years.
In 2003, he and his wife Helen went to the London School of Theology to study Theology, Music and Worship, and they graduated in 2006. Daren and Helen have been at St Mary's since 2008, when they came to fill the Worship Minister role as a job share. In early 2017, Helen stepped down from her post to look after their young son.
Site members can find Daren's contact details here or via the church office.
